Growing more mature has made me realize that the art of karate is not just for the young, but can also be an activity for people of all ages and abilities. This is the reason for the creation of Bushi Satori Ryu/ Pro-Systems Seated Zen Karate. The reason this karate manual is different than any other karate book is because the focus is not on sport or tournament play. It also does not include kata, stances and body shifting movements. This book was written for those who love karate, or would love to study the art aspects of karate, but cannot practice the techniques standing because of their age or related medical problems. Seated Zen Karate is done slowly most of the time, focusing on the entire range of movement. This makes it a mindful exercise and a form of moving Zen meditation. It can also be practiced at full speed for practical self-defense.
