Having trouble making fire with bow and drill or wanting to try it for the first time? These instructional drawings and photographs by Raven will help.

The way your body is positioned is essential!
Stroke full length of bow. Longer bow, less strokes. Pointing slightly downward helps string from climbing up and down spindle.
Be sure to have something to catch the coal it produces that you can also move the coal with to the tinder bundle.

It's not just rubbing 2 sticks together! The way you cut the notch in the fire board is essential!
Fire bow need not be perfectly curved or even flexible.
